Yankees Beat Rays

The Good

Sabathia's start yesterday was his best all season.  He pitched 8 innings allowing a couple unearned runs and struck out 10.  The otherwise sleepy offense showed up a little, scoring 5 runs including a couple RBI's from Cano who went 3-4 with a homerun.  Granderson also hit a homerun.

The Bad

Nunez had a good game offensively recording a couple hits and a walk, and stealing a couple bases, but his problem has always been defense.  Along with the two hits and the two stolen bases, he also had two errors on the field that led to two runs being scored.

The Ugly

After an 0-4 night, Jeter's batting average is down to a paltry .376.  Jeter needs to get refocused, because .376 just won't do.

Another person who needs to get refocused is A-Rod.  He hit well yesterday, and he's been decent all season.  Decent but not all that good.  At $29 million, we need a little more production out of him.  Right now, Cano and Granderson are the feared hitters in the lineup, and A-Rod should be right there with them.

Cano and Granderson Team Up To Fight Children's Illness

As the Children's Health Funds Homerun Club Captian, or CHFHCC for short, Robinson Cano represented well by hitting a homerun, and also advised Granderson to hit one too.  These acts of selfless homerun hitting has added $4 to the Children's Health Funds fight against children's illnesses.

Raul Ibanez 5hr = $10
Nick Swisher 7hr = $14
Andruw Jones 3hr = $6
Derek Jeter 5hr = $10
Curtis Granderson 11hr = $22
Alex Rodriguez 5hr = $10
Robinson Cano 3hr = $6
Mark Teixeira 4hr = $8
Eric Chavez 3hr = $6
Russell Martin 3hr = $6

Total 49hr = $98

Also of note, Soriano got the save - although it was not a great accomplishment as he had a 3 run lead and let up a run.
